Description

The Smithsonian Institution was founded in 1846. It’s founder, James Smithson, wanted, “under the name of the Smithsonian Institution, an establishment for the increase and diffusion of knowledge.” The Smithsonian Magazine has followed those instructions by chronicling the institution’s research, education, museum, and knowledge.
